   • Development of diagnostic tools and cleaning agents by tissue culture:
     Carnations, Gypsophila, Grapes, Stone fruits (rootstocks and cultivars),
     Roses, Citrus, Sweet potatoes, Potatoes, Strawberries.
   • DNA fingerprint analysis of cultivars and hybrids:
     Grapes, Strawberries, Watermelons, Carnations, Olives
2. R&D
   • Establishment and propagation of parent lines for plant breeders (i.e Globe Artichoke, Vriesea, Asparagus etc.)
   • Development of diagnostic methods for detection of viral
     and fungal diseases by ELISA, PCR, RT-PCR, Immuno capture PCR and nucleic acid hybridizations.
   • DNA fingerprint analysis using RFLP, RAPD, SSR and SCAR-PCR techniques.
   • Subcontracting research programs for germplasm improvement
     using conventional and recombinant DNA techniques. Areas of expertise:
     1. Modulation of cartenoid pigmentation in plant organs.
     2. Gene tagging (using various tagging approaches).
     3. Development of recombinant vaccines and other valuable
         protein products in plants.
     4. Development of transformation and regeneration protocols
         for genetic engineering of recalcitrant plants.
     5. Custom development of tissue culture and transformation
         protocols for new plant products.
