Persimmon trees (Diospyros kaki L.) are grafted onto various rootstocks. Most popular rootstocks are difficult to produce from rooted cuttings. The preferred rootstocks are Kaki and Virginiana. The preferred mode of propagation is meristem culture. However, due to exudation of phenolic compounds, it was unsuccessful. Recently, Rahan Meristem developed an efficient protocol to produce “true to type” in vitro rootstock lines. This development led to a large project of selection of rootstocks with various traits, especially with tolerance to salinity and calcareous soils.
We offer selected resistant rootstocks as well as grafted plants of the leading varieties.
